In BF-32771, a PR was suspected to have caused a performance regression in the initialsync-large test. However, further investigation in a later PR showed that the test is short enough that a bit of noise invalidates the results. To make the test run longer than 3-4 seconds, increase `num_docs` by 10-100x. An increase of 20x made the test ~65 seconds long and gave stable results.
