Today we do not utilize these, which makes our use of space and performance for write commands requiring multiple batches less efficient than it could be.

PM-3403 describes a project which would create a new API for running write commands that would give us this behavior; this ticket is to track actually having this behavior, whether via PM-3403 or otherwise. See SERVER-77648 for some additional context.
