Resharding is impacted by:

data size, number of incoming writes,
number of destination shards, number of indexes, size of the indexes, and document size.
We have some information in the docs linked in the comment below but it doesn't look complete to me. I think this can be expanded to include some baseline numbers on how changing each of those factors affects resharding.
