The API of write_ops_exec should be further unit tested, with write_ops_exec_util possibly having its own set of tests, since the helper functions in these files are almost as large as the main functions. This ticket specifically covers the partially tested state of 
insertBatchAndHandleErrors(), performTimeseriesWrites(), and performUpdates().
