Let user configure mongo nodes to support SASL PLAIN only for user accounts authenticated via proxy authentication.

      To use the solution to SERVER-6407, one must enable SASL PLAIN authentication on the $external database. Presently, this can only be done by enabling SASL PLAIN on all databases, which may not be desirable.
