This is not quite enough to catch the case we saw in SERVER-96412, but it would provide some valuable coverage in this area, in case there's anything similar we could catch out there.

For consideration: should this ticket include a variant of sharded collections vs. unsharded collections, like we have for aggregate and jscore? Or is that too many for now? Or too many for a single ticket and it should be a separate ticket?
