After working for a while with mongos, a config db, and one shard (nothing on it), mongos stops accepting connections. E.g.,
~/gitroot/p> ./mongo
MongoDB shell version: 1.3.5-pre-
url: test
connecting to: test
...never finishes and shows the '>'.
