$searchSortValues is stored in the DocumentMetadataFields, but it is never referenced via the document metadata, only by following the "$searchSortValues" field directly into the underlying BSON. We could choose to remove it from DocumentMetadataFields, or change the usage to use the metadata instead. (The first option is certainly easier.)
