Only warn on invalid kafka configurations from the connection

      Currently we will throw a user exception if the user provides an invalid configuration value. This would normally be fine, however in order to avoid introducing a breaking change we should opt to log these errors for now and then introduce the breaking change cutover in a later ticket.
