      Summary

      Provide a way for users to specify a more granular collation for an aggregation pipeline – per-expression and per-stage, with multiple different collations present at different points in the pipeline.

      Motivation

      Collation was introduced in MongoDB version 3.4. We currently allow for a collation to apply to an entire pipeline, but it is impossible to specify a different collation for only particular expressions or stages. Adding this feature will unlock new use cases for views, change streams and so on.
