      Tasks:

      • Update the session compact API with a "background" value.
      • Add statistics to indicate whether the background compaction server is running or not.
      • Verify for invalid use cases of the API and create the relevant tests.

      • The compact session API can be used with the new "background" field.
      • Invalid usage of the API is prohibited.
