Currently test/format doesn't support any crash/recovery type scenarios. The test/format does not support cover clean or unclean shutdown scenarios. The ticket aims to improve our test/format testing to cover crash/recovery scenarios. The developer will need to investigate whether this is possible, and the work needed to be done to make this happen. We could also perhaps modify the format.sh to crash a test/format run and make it start up again.
