There are different understandings and views about application thread eviction behavior in relation to cache utilization. Also, it is difficult to assess the impact of any change to existing eviction behavior. There are workloads focusing on performance(wtperf), crash/recovery(timestamp abort), system level verification(test-format). It will be useful to have workloads to simulate the application behavior under different cache conditions.

The task is to define the characteristics of the workloads that can be used to simulate the application behavior in relation to cache. The definition of characteristics is to capture the important aspects to be considered when designing these workloads.
