S3-based tests were originally added as part of the tiered storage project, but since that project was cancelled, their continued relevance has become unclear. At the time, there was some discussion around retaining these tests because they might still provide value for disaggregated storage.
However, we are now seeing S3 tests running in CI, causing noise and contributing to failures that require ongoing triage. This raises the need to re-evaluate their role. Are these tests still valuable for disaggregated storage?
This ticket is to drive a broader conversation with relevant stakeholders and align on a long-term strategy for S3-based tests.
Next Steps:
- Gather input from disaggregated storage folks.
- Decide on the future of S3-based tests.
- Document and implement the agreed direction.
