To help understand how to improve workloads with large number of dhandles, it makes sense to create a benchmark that creates many thousands of active dhandles, while doing checkpoints, inserts, searches in addition to create and drop. PERF-6546 is a mongod based workload that does this, but a WT version of this makes it much easier to analyze and play what-if scenarios.
