@michaelcahill, I thought this change made things a bit more intuitive:

• I moved the LevelDB API link into the building & installing section on the front-page, and
• Dropped the performance link from the front page and merge its content into the "Writing Applications" page.

It feels odd to me that performance tuning gets a front-page link, and that it's separate from the "how to write WT apps" page.

Anyway, if you like this great, if you don't, discard it without a second thought.
