As part of SERVER-113418, we replaced the usages of statistics=(size) with statistics=(fast). Since this change, we have observed failures tracked under BF-41133.

These failures manifest as errors when attempting to open a cursor during statistics collection.

Scope:
Identify the root cause of intermittent cursor open failures during stat collection after switching to statistics=(fast), and fix it.
