Lookaside records generally remain in the table until the corresponding page is read (e.g., by a subsequent checkpoint). However, lookaside records are written as pages are created by reconciliation, and if the reconciliation subsequently fails, the corresponding "page ID" will never be read and the lookaside records won't be removed until the file leaves the cache.
