      The recent upgrade to support Python3 broke the operation tracking support scripts in a couple of different ways. We should add automated testing in Evergreen to cover as many of those cases as are practical to avoid similar issues in the future.

      donald.anderson and sasha.fedorova could you please add some more context here about what testing might be useful?
