If we're going to support Sparc, MIPS or big-endian ARM, we'll need to do some testing on big endian systems.
One shortcut is to use OS X with Rosetta installed: with the right tools installed, a gcc flag builds for PowerPC on an x86 host without it even being a cross-compile. With current Xcode 4, a hack is required to re-enable PowerPC builds.
The current build doesn't get very far: some of the struct size assumptions in verify_build.h fail.
