30% performance drop in updates when split_pct is set to 100

      Following the comment from WT-5929, with durable history a btree with reconciliation splitting the pages at split_pct=100% performs terribly as compared to before durable history.
      This ticket will investigate the reasons behind the performance variations, and this might help gain a lot of performance back for durable history.

      The sampled wtperf workload is update-only-btree
