Currently taking an incremental backup at a src_id also requires setting a new this_id to begin an incremental at the current point. It should be possible to take an incremental backup at a src_id without specifying a new starting identifier. The system would just keep tracking whatever exists instead of replacing whatever identifier that is not src_id.
