Now that we have the basic tiered code working, we should revisit the earlier decision to have the tier:name entry in the metadata. Do we need it?
Right now opening table:name gets to tiered:name. Part of the metadata for tiered:name once a switch has happened is the array tiers=("file:name-00000002.wtobj", "tier:name"). The original intent was that tier:name was going to be a gateway to the list of objects object:name-0000001.wtobj.
With the encoding of the object id inside the block manager address cookie, it seems we don't need the whole infrastructure of the tier:name. This ticket should investigate removing that. If it is removed, do we need the tiers=() array at all?
