      Extent lists (src/block/block_ext.c and src/include/block.h) are a relatively standalone part of the code that would make a good candidate for adding unit tests.

      Most of this ticket will be figuring out the details, e.g. how to test static functions, how to fake the inputs it needs, getting the build system happy, etc.
