Summary
We should review the test/format application in light of the WiredTiger API, and identify places where test/format could provide additional testing and coverage if support for API features were added.

An example of where it might be extended is the new cursor bound API.

The test/format API usage can be understood by reviewing the configuration options accepted by test format in config.h and config.c

Output
The outcome of this ticket will be a catalogue of extensions we could make to test/format to increase the test coverage it gives, ideally with a recommendation about which extensions are worthwhile.
