Problem Description

When auto-update is enabled, it automatically updates Compass to the latest version. However, customers often are not aware of the version they were using before the update.

Should the previous version number be needed, say, before a driver is updated and now prevents successful connection attempts, it would be helpful for customers to automatically know their previous version in case they need to rollback. In this scenario, it's a guess as to which version they were using.

It is also possible that this info is already available but not readily available to the Compass user.

Steps to Reproduce

Perform an auto-upgrade and find the previous Compass version. It does not seem this information is stored.

Expected Results

Would like to have Compass version stored in a log file or in Compass before an auto-upgrade happens.

Actual Results

Additional Notes

This would be an important piece of information when debugging Compass issues.

The previous Compass version number should persist somewhere even after Compass application is closed and reopened.
