We did not catch PHPC-1224 earlier because wire protocol errors were encountered during SKIPIF (attempting to find a live server). Although exceptions were printed to the test suite log, the tests themselves were skipped.

In order to ensure we catch this issue in the future, we should have one test that actually fails if it cannot connect to a server due to a wire version mismatch.
