Investigate extremely slow tests

      I've noticed that some of our tests take a long time to run. For example on Python 3.8 OpenSSL 1.0.2 Ubuntu 16.04 Auth SSL test-latest-standalone :

      And Python 2.7 RHEL 6.2 (x86_64) Auth SSL Coverage test-latest-replica_set:
