Update: the latest server builds appear to depend on a new symbol GetProcessWorkingSetSize provided by Windows SDK 10.0.26100.0 (Windows 2022), which is absent in Windows SDK 10.0.17763.0 (Windows 2019).

Drivers Evergreen tasks testing against the latest server version are currently failing on Windows distros since Dec 16, 2025 due to the following error:

Command '['C:/data/mci/637d/src/drivers-evergreen-tools/mongodb/bin/mongod', '--version']' returned non-zero exit status 3221225785.

This command is invoked here as part of Drivers Evergreen Tools scripts to download and run MongoDB servers for Drivers testing.

This issue seems to be limited to executables provided by the latest server version archive targeting Windows, specifically the one provided by: https://downloads.10gen.com/windows/mongodb-windows-x86_64-enterprise-latest.zip (currently providing mongodb-win32-x86_64-enterprise-windows-8.3.0-alpha0-4285-gd4406aa). This issue seems to affect all executable binaries provided by the archive (i.e. mongod.exe, mongos.exe, etc.) when attempted in an EVG Windows distro.

Note: the reproduction steps succeed on my local Windows 11 machine, suggesting this might be an EVG distro issue rather than a server archive issue. However, the Event Logs for windows-vsCurrent and windows-2022-latest do not line up with the Dec 16 failure timeline.
