FTDC is a valuable diagnostic tool, particular in on-premise deployments looking at incidents after the fact.

We would like to design some API for extensions to add sub-sections to serverStatus. The serverStatus metrics are already fairly extensible, so the work should mostly be around translating this in the C interface - who is responsible for updating these? host on each call to serverStatus? Or extension periodically can perform updates and we will read them on each call?
