As we file this ticket the ability for the server to use OTel to report metrics is being developed in SPM-4462. This would allow us to send real-time metrics to some dashboard - currently thought to happen via a chain:
OTel instrumentation -> export and convert to Prometheus -> victoria metrics -> graphana dashboard

Would be great to prove this out and allow extensions to plug into this as well.
