      This check was necessary only so that 4.4 would be compatible with 4.2: see related ticket SERVER-45002.

      During an upgrade or downgrade involving 4.4 and 4.6, on the other hand, all nodes will support the "comment" field on all commands. The FCV check should be removed during 4.5 development.
