      1. download community release 4.4.6 to a Max running Mac OS Big Sur on Intel Core 9
      2. unpack the .tar
      3. from mongodb-macos-x86_64-4.4.6/bin, run ./install_compass

      I downed a community version (2.4.4) and try to run

          ./intall_compass

       

      it failed after show a progress of 21%
