Some places in the code check for a view to be a timeseries just by looking at the name of the pointed bucket collection (example) without actually looking for the presence of the TimeSeries option. This assumption is correct if bucket collections can only be created when creating TimeSeries collections, but that is not always true (for example, the fuzzer has tripped over this in BF-32784 and BF-32463).
