As demonstrated in TOOLS-2643, it can be difficult to patch things in the push task, because it no-ops on patchbuilds. Since the unstable release artifacts aren't guaranteed to be stable anyways, we should consider allowing these tasks to be patched so that release infrastructure breakages can be caught before merging instead of after.
