The checkpoint preparation stage can sometimes take more than 2 minutes to gather all the dhandles. The lack of statistics while gathering the dhandles made it impossible to identify where it was spending time.

To improve the situation, add a couple of statistics around the code where it may take time to gather the dhandles and also add a prepare log message to track the progress.
