there's no error message for incorrect configuration string combinations

      We don't detect and complain if you specify illegal configuration string combinations, for example, I can specify "bulk,dump,printable,raw" in the same cursor and nothing will complain.

      Do we want to do this on a case-by-case basis, or is there some more general way we can handle illegal configuration combinations?
