We have WIREDTIGER_CONFIG environment variable that overrides any configuration the application provided for the wiredtiger_open() connection string. Consider having a WIREDTIGER_TABLE_CONFIG that overrides table creation string in a similar way. Other than helping testing and debugging without recompiling the application, this could benefit customers where there is a need to override the current behavior.
